Hey Band!

Most of you can play your school song but not your national anthem, but that does not mean you're allowed to not practice it. The tougher the piece, the more you should practice. When we finally play a tough piece with good quality, it will definitely be mindblowing and the sense of satisfaction is indescribable. When playing, do take note of your
Dynamics - parts labelled mp, p, etc should be soft, parts labelled fff, etc should be loud. Not the other way round. Your crescendo should be distinct, Lower pitched instrument should crescendo more. Your decrescendo should be distinct too, Higher pitched instrument should decrescendo more.
Articulations - parts with accents, staccatos, legato, you should handle them well. Just make it distinct, it is THERE FOR A REASON!
Tonguing - any triplets, semi-quavers, running notes should be done with clear tonguing!
Tempo - If the song is meant to be fast, don't slow down, WATCH your conductor, he is THERE FOR A REASON too! If its meant to be slow, don't attempt to rush or drag it even slower.

Please take note:
1. You should already have your black file.
2. For any vandalized stands please clean it up. (can be referred to as vandalizing public property, liable for caning!)
3. Bring home your instruments to practice. (especially flutes & clarinets since its so minute)
4. For any piece if you're still unsure of your parts, please be thickskinned and ask your section leaders/seniors, ANNOY THEM TO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW HOW TO PLAY. :D (oh dear that includes myself, sigh)
5. Please prepare your photocopied result slips for term 3 and hand them in to your section leaders by TUESDAY.

Xena.
